Today we’re celebrating one of nature’s most important, and often underappreciated, allies: the bee! From native bees to honey bees, these tireless pollinators play a crucial role in keeping ecosystems thriving and food growing.

This year’s theme, “Bee inspired by nature to nourish us all,” highlights the vital role bees and other pollinators play in agrifood systems and the health of our planet’s ecosystems. It’s a powerful reminder that by protecting pollinators, we’re also protecting biodiversity, food security, and the natural balance of our world. Learn more.

Want to help support bees and other pollinators? Here are a few simple ways you can make a big difference:

  • Plant native flowers in your garden, yard or balcony
  • Avoid using pesticides and herbicides
  • Leave some areas wild or undisturbed in your garden and yard
  • Provide fresh water sources like shallow dishes with pebbles
  • Support and share citizen science efforts!

TNC invites you to take part in our iNaturalist projects, where you can log your own nature observations and help scientists learn more about pollinator populations. Our current project, Pollinators in the Wild BioBlitz, is a fun and easy way to contribute — just snap a photo, upload it, and help make a difference!

Let’s honor these amazing little creatures by protecting the habitats they depend on, today and every day.
