The Nature Collective is honored to be part of the 2026 VWEC Summer Community Faire, and we would absolutely love for you to visit our booth, explore, and see what we’ve been up to.
What Is the VWEC?
The Virtual Worlds Education Consortium (VWEC) is a community dedicated to bringing together educators, creators, and curious minds across virtual worlds to share ideas, celebrate what works, and explore new ways of learning and connecting.
At its heart, the VWEC is all about collaboration, innovation, and the belief that virtual spaces like Second Life can foster meaningful experiences, education, discovery, and community. Whether you’re deeply involved in virtual education or simply curious to learn more, everyone is welcome to visit and attend their meetings.
The Summer Community Faire
Running from May 30th through August 15th, 2026, the VWEC Summer Community Faire brings together a wonderful collection of educational and community-focused spaces from across the metaverse. Visitors can explore immersive exhibits, discover new communities, and learn about a wide variety of topics and passions.
The Faire officially opens during the VWEC Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, May 30th at 11:00 am SLT, and we hope to see some familiar faces there!
TNC Joins the Expert Panel
Before the Faire officially opened, TNC had the honor of participating in the VWEC’s Metaverse Expert Series on May 22nd, joining an incredible panel of voices from across the virtual world community. Together, we explored a question that feels especially important to communities like ours: How do we keep people engaged, inspired, and coming back?
One of the biggest takeaways from the discussion was the power of collaboration, connection, and shining a light on the incredible diversity of spaces that exist across Second Life and beyond. When communities support one another, share experiences, and create opportunities for discovery, learning becomes something truly meaningful.
It was such a thoughtful and inspiring conversation, and a wonderful reminder of why building community matters so much in virtual spaces.
Visit the TNC Booth
At our booth, visitors can learn more about TNC’s mission of celebrating both virtual nature and real-world environmental awareness. You’ll find information about our iNaturalist BioBlitz programs, including Backyard Birds & Beyond, Fungifinders, and Pollinators in the Wild, along with resources on native planting, pollinator conservation, and the wonderful world of native bees (you know we couldn’t resist bringing bees into it).
We’re also showcasing photos from TNC member locations, offering a little glimpse into the beauty, creativity, and diversity of spaces that make up our nature-loving community. And of course… be sure to pick up a free copy of our Nature Bingo game while you’re there!
A heartfelt thank you goes to TNC Volunteer Shandra, whose incredible creativity and hard work helped bring our booth to life this year. We are so grateful for all the time and care she put into making it such a welcoming space.
